In April and May I have been in Mexico working on my photoproject on the Normalization of Santa Muerte within a Context of Violence. See here the results:
It was a very exciting project, especially in finding safe access to famous and complicated ‘Barrio Bravo’ de Tepito. It was very instructive in terms of logistics ánd photography. Furthermore, it was a theme that intrigued and inspired me. It is an extreme form of lived religion, and I saw so many paralels with the devotion for the Virgin of Urkupiña in Bolivia. I love studying the inventive ways that people give meaning to the world around them. It is also the final project that I will hand in to finish my Master in Photojournalism at the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona.
