Currently I am working on the creation of my first photobook on my long-term-project Manifiesto del Agua. In the past years I have been documenting how the right for clean drinking water, that is included in the Cuban Constitution, is managed at the tropical and socialist island. By following the different professions involved in guaranteeing the fresh water access, the book focuses on the inventiveness of Cubans to deal with their daily struggle for clean drinking water. The book gives a unique insight in contemporary Cuba.
Design is being created by the artistic duo Yorick de Vries and Niek Does from Studio Another Day, and lithography by Sebastiaan Hanekroot from Colour and Books.
This month I am running a crowdfund campaign to fund the book. With pre-orders I hope to generate sufficient means to pay for graphic design, lithography, papers and printing, so the book -and my dream- will come true. The campaign is running at Voor de Kunst, a crowdfundplatform in the Netherlands.
The project is supported by Fonds Anna Cornelis, Fonds Bijzonderde Journalistieke Projecten, Prins Bernard Cultuurfonds, Jaap Hartenfonds and Fonds NVF.
